19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to win a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a close final set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
