Much like bad weather tore through the north-west the prior day, Manchester City blew Manchester United aside at the Etihad. It was a statement three goal victory for their manager's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their championship potential as they consolidated their place at the league summit.

Final Period

The primary adjustment came from Skinner at the break as Melvine Malard came on for Elisabeth Terland but by this time it was too late to alter the outcome of the match. Former Manchester City player Park came most likely to score, striking the woodwork, but the visitors were lacking in ideas and did not manage to produce a solitary shot on target.

The home side, in contrast, could have extended their cushion when a superb Vivianne Miedema pass sent Bunny Shaw away only for her to fluff her lines but it mattered little to the winning team.
